The Salina Chorale is a community of mature voices dedicated to the promotion of choral music arts. The Chorale welcomes members of all backgrounds who enjoy ensemble singing. All who enjoy choral singing are invited to join and sing with us.
SPRING 2017 CONCERT
Rehearsals for the spring semester began Monday, Jan. 23, 2017. One or two additional rehearsals are scheduled during concert weeks. The Salina Chorale will perform its 2017 spring concert "Sing! Be Joyful" at 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 23 in the beautiful Stiefel Theatre for the Performing Arts in downtown Salina, KS. Tickets will be available at the door, and may also be purchased from Chorale members or via this website. Adults $8, Students $5.
Rehearsals for the Salina Chorale are held at Kansas Wesleyan University, in the choir room on the east end of the second floor of Pioneer Hall, every Monday at 7 to about 8:30 to 8:45 p.m. during fall and spring semesters, culminating in holiday and spring performances. All members are asked to arrive by 6:45 p.m. each week for a short choir meeting before warm-up and singing begins at 7 p.m. NEW MEMBERS WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR FALL 2017. WATCH HERE FOR DETAILS.
There is no tryout to sing in the Chorale; all who enjoy choir singing are welcome to join. There are dues for each semester of singing, but new members are excused from dues for their first semester with the group. Concert dress instructions will be given.
PAST SALINA SYMPHONY PERFORMANCES
The large sanctuary at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Salina, KS, was packed for the Salina Chorale's 2016 Carols of Christmas concert on Sunday, Dec. 4, 2016. The ambiance and live echo of this space rivals those of the large cathedrals of Europe. An invitation was extended for the Salina Chorale to return in December 2017 for the next Carols of Christmas concert.
The Salina Chorale also joined the Kansas Wesleyan University Philharmonic Choir to form the chorus for the 2016 holiday concerts of the Salina Symphony, held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17 ,and at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 18, in the Stiefel Theatre for the Performing Arts.
The Salina Chorale had a wonderful audience for its Spring 2016 concert, "The British Invasion," presented at 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 17, 2016 in the Community Room of Trinity United Methodist Church, 901 E Neal Ave., Salina, KS.
The Salina Chorale joined the KWU Choir and area high school choirs to form a mighty 200-voice chorus for the 60th Anniversary Gala Concert of the Salina Symphony at 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 1, 2016. The chorus and soloists performed "O Fortuna" (from "Carmina Burana"), "How Lovely Is Thy Dwelling Place" by Brahms, "Duel of the Fates" (from "Star Wars") and "Awakenings."
